–The Friends of the Adobes is pleased to announce the re-opening of the Historic Rios-Caledonia on Friday, April 9. They plan to be open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12–3 p.m. They will welcome visitors to see the new entryway, the well-tended grounds as they are preparing for their beautiful “spring bloom,” and the progress on the evolving “Salinan People” display. Bring a lunch and enjoy it at one of our picnic tables on the grounds.

The Rios-Caledonia Adobe depends totally on volunteers and presently they are in need of Sunday volunteers. If you have any interest in helping out, even just one day a month (3 1/2 hrs), please contact laverne@friendsoftheadobes.org or fill out a contact form on our website.

The Friends of the Adobes have also announced the launch of a new website. You may now view it at www.historic-rios-caledonia.org.

Historic Rios-Caledonia Adobe was built in 1835 just south of the San Miguel Mission as a home for the overseer of Mission lands. It is located on the old mission trail between San Francisco and Los Angeles and is eight miles north of Paso Robles. This historic site is well preserved with the original Inn and Stagecoach stop now a museum and small gift shop. A building was added in 1930 that is now a unique history research library.

To visit Historic Rios-Caledonia Adobe, take the San Miguel off-ramp exit from Highway 101.
