Bearcat cross country

–The Paso Robles Bearcats cross-country team met against Arroyo Grande on a 2-mile course on Saturday. Although they didn’t win, the runners worked hard and had greatly improved their two-mile times from the beginning of the season, according to Coach Cora Karamitsos.

Next week is the final meet of the Cross Country season! Bearcats will be racing against Atascadero on their 2.5-mile course.

Bearcat softball

Saturday was opening day for Bearcat softball and the 2021 season. Paso opened with an away game at Nipomo high school. The Bearcats won their first game of the year by a score of six to zero. Stacey Ruiz hit a two-RBI triple in the 2nd inning to start things off. She knocked in Marissa Rovenstine who had reached base earlier with a 12 pitch walk. Paso put up three runs in the 5th inning to open up their lead. Jaiden Ralston hit a two-run single and ended up at 3rd on a throwing error by Nipomo. She was then singled home by Andie Dizon who had three hits on the day with two stolen bases. Nina Ayala added an RBI in the 6th inning and Hannah Chambers hit a solo homerun in the 7th inning to round out the scoring. Defensively, Paso was led by Jaiden Ralston and catcher Emma Phillips. The battery struck out 13 Nipomo hitters with zero walks and 3 total hits.

The Bearcats play their first home game of the season this coming Wednesday afternoon against the visiting Morro Bay pirates. Game time is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. The game will be live streamed on V.O.P.
